Korean Deaf Football Team
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- Amid the growing nationwide interest in disabled persons, the Korean Deaf Football Team organized on May 29, Juche 103 (2014) has positively advanced into international tournaments.

According to Hong Jong Chol, section chief of the Korean Economic and Cultural Exchange Company for the Deaf, Blind and Dumb, the football team made its debut in the world sports arena of disabled persons by attending the international deaf friendly tournament in Australia in December 2014. Since then it has played friendly matches and taken part in joint trainings in Brazil, Australia and other regions on several occasions.

In the course, physical abilities and technical skills of its members were improved remarkably.

In recent years, the football team nominated a former player of the national team as its coach, selected and recalled persons who have talent for football from among graduates or undergraduates of deaf schools across the country and introduced new methods and tactics into training.

And it has often organized matches with various football teams and joint trainings with deaf football teams of other countries and advanced into international deaf football tournaments.

With a goal to obtain high results at the forthcoming Asian Deaf Football Tournament and regional games, the football team is now putting spurs to training.

Meanwhile, the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled has directed efforts to developing various sports events like deaf triathlon and field-and-track good for body training of disabled persons.
