Local industrial establishments have directed big efforts to producing their specialties.

The Songdowon General Foodstuff Factory has recently produced at least 10 kinds of new foodstuffs, developing various products in competition with central foodstuff factories.

The Susongchon and Paeksong general foodstuff factories developed diverse products with local raw materials, while such provincial general foodstuff factories as the Amnokgang and Jongbangsan general foodstuff factories are steadily increasing the variety of processed foodstuffs popular among citizens.

Garment and paper factories in cities and counties, too, launched a sectional emulation drive to turn out quality products.

A show of schoolbags is held once a quarter of year to enhance the zeal for emulation among provincial bag factories.

Products from the Wonsan Disabled Soldiers' Bag Factory in Kangwon Province and the Sinuiju Bag Factory in North Phyongan Province won a high appreciation at the national schoolbag shows held in November of last year and February of this year.

Meanwhile, a work for building spring water and kimchi factories is progressing apace in provinces including North Phyongan, South Hamgyong, Kangwon and South Phyongan provinces from last year.

And modernization of provincial condiment factories is stepped up on a full scale.
