Big Efforts Paid to Securing Irrigation Water
Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) -- Big efforts are paid to securing irrigation water for agriculture in the DPRK.

Its agricultural sector regards this work as an issue vital to this year's farming since the precipitation has been very low as of now.

In this regard, Rim Kwang Pil, section head of the Ministry of Agriculture, told KCNA:

A brisk campaign is now going on to fill the reservoirs across the country with water.

Farm villages in South Hwanghae Province have stored a large amount of water in reservoirs and conducted basin irrigation at 2,900 places, while carrying out the repair of more than 7,000 wells, tube-wells and water holes.

In North Phyongan Province small reservoirs were made at different places to secure water.

The same is true of the rural areas in Nampho City and South Phyongan and North Hwanghae provinces.

Meanwhile, a work is progressing apace in cities and counties of Kangwon and North and South Hamgyong provinces to make dammed pools at various places of rivers and streams.
