The festival that has been held from April, Juche 88 (1999) is a grand political festival which has instilled into the Korean people and mankind the absolute truth that President Kim Il Sung is always alive along with Kimilsungia, the flower of Sun.

Presented to the past 20 rounds of Kimilsungia festivals were more than 310 000 potted Kimilsungias and the number of visitors to the festivals reached over 6.3 million.

The festival for celebrating the Day of the Sun has been developed into the flower festival for praising the sun, which is noteworthy in the world's history of floriculture in terms of its scale, while drawing a great number of visitors every year.
