Phucho, Highly Nutritive Vegetable with Long History
Pyongyang, April 8 (KCNA) -- From long ago, Koreans have cultivated and used phucho, one of tasty and highly nutritive vegetables, for dietary life and medical treatment.

It is proven by lots of old documents and data.

Among them are "History of Koryo Kingdom", "Chronicles of the Feudal Joson Dynasty", "Hunmongjahoe", "Sanrimgyongje" and "Rimwonsipryukji".

According to "History of Koryo Kingdom", phucho kimchi had been used as a dish for national memorial service.

And "Sanrimgyongje" introduces a method for making pickled phucho.

Phucho has been also used as one of Koryo medicines.

According to an old book "Tonguibogam (Encyclopedia of Traditional Medicine of Korea)", the Korean people had long used the seed of phucho as diuretic and diarrhea remedy and its leaf and trunk as haemostatic.
