Scientific Achievements Conducive to Forest Restoration

Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Academy of Forest Science in the DPRK have made signal achievements conducive to the forest restoration. They helped various forestry management stations transform the forests of pine-nut trees of native species into high-yielding ones, while settling lots of technical problems arising in breeding and growing paulownia tree. They also contributed to turning one thousand and hundreds of hectares of Evodia daniellii forests into high-yielding ones in ten cities and counties. In the meantime, those scientists made new microbial agrochemicals for exterminating the wilt and standardized its usage to put the production of saplings on a scientific basis of higher level. They made successes in the research into creating lime-tree forest and Ribns Nigrum forest and acclimatizing a new strain of high-yielding cranberry in Samjiyon County, Ryanggang Province. They introduced the double-production of saplings into nurseries, contributing to the development of forest science and forestation. |
