In recent years, many cooperative farms have introduced conservation agriculture like soil management method for preventing soil compaction and saving tillage fuel and technology for preventing soil erosion.

Taeo and Tansan cooperative farms in Unjon and Pakchon counties of North Phyongan Province have expanded the area of no-tillage cultivation for several years, while the township co-op farm of Yontan County in North Hwanghae Province introduced intercrop to increase grain output.

Farms in Kangwon Province have reduced the damage from high temperature, drought and flood by suppressing evaporation and soil loss.
