The work, published on April 9, Juche 63 (1974), comprehensively indicates the tasks and ways for thoroughly implementing the policy of preventive medicine set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea, improving health care and developing medical science and technology.

Kim Hyong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea, said in his speech at the seminar that Kim Jong Il's work serves as important guidelines for putting health service onto a new high stage and a classical document which gives comprehensive answers to all theoretical and practical problems arising in settling the issue of the public health from the Juche-based viewpoint.

The leadership of Kim Jong Il gave fuller play to the advantage of the socialist public health system constantly serving for the lives and health of the people, he said.

He called upon public health workers to thoroughly implement the tasks set forth in Kim Jong Il's work and the Party's policy of public health and thus ensure the lives and health of the people with medical sci-tech successes by modernizing the pharmaceutical factories and medical appliances factories and decisively improving medical service.

The symposium, divided into panels of surgery, internal medicine, hygiene and anti-epidemics, basic medicine, pharmacy and Koryo medicine, heard more than 340 valuable papers on medical science.
