The President, who embarked on the road of revolution in his teens, set forth the Juche-oriented line of armed struggle to organize the first people's armed unit and led the great anti-Japanese war to victory to liberate the country and put an end to the long history of national sufferings.

Such fighting experiences created during the anti-Japanese revolutionary war as organization of armed struggle based on guerilla warfare and formation of the anti-Japanese national united front served as good examples in the struggle of the world revolutionary people for national liberation in colonial countries and anti-imperialist independence.

After Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule, the President developed the revolutionary armed forces into a modern regular army and led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory to honorably safeguard the national independence and sovereignty.

The victory in the grim Fatherland Liberation War, a virtual showdown between rifle and A-bomb, was a brilliant fruition of his Juche-based military idea, strategy and tactics and outstanding commanding art.

His military idea and strategy and tactics consistent with originality, scientific accuracy, superb ingeniousness and offensive spirit were a decisive factor that made the DPRK always hold the initiative in the war and achieve only victories.

Thanks to his undaunted and mysterious operations and war tactics like prompt counterattack, encirclement and annihilation and active position warfare, the DPRK, a small country, could defeat the formidable imperialist enemy to create a miracle in the world history of wars.

During the whole course of his revolutionary leadership, the President gave top priority to the military affairs. Thanks to his Songun leadership, the a-match-for-a-hundred revolutionary armed forces and self-reliant defence industry were built and an all-people, nationwide defence system was established.

Indeed, Kim Il Sung was an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander unprecedented in the history.

That’s why the Korean people conferred the title of the DPRK Generalissimo on him on April 13, Juche 81 (1992) in celebration of his 80th birthday.

Today, the Korean people's ever-victorious history continues under the guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, another greatest-ever commander.
