The Asian-Pacific Championships, held in the United Arab Emirates, brought together more than 270 male and female ace judokas from 40 countries and regions including the DPRK, China and Kazakhstan.

In the women's 57 kg category Kim Jin A defeated her Jordanian rival in preliminary, another from Chinese Taipei in quarterfinals and Chinese rival in the semi-finals before beating her Japanese rival in the finals.

Meanwhile Rim Song Sim won a bronze medal in the women's 52 kg category.
