President Kim Il Sung proposed the building of another magnificent palace for children best in the world and after the completion of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace, personally cut the tape at its inaugural ceremony and sent gifts and significant autograph.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, who set the Kallimgil area in Mangyongdae, birth place of the President, as the site for the palace, gave detailed guidance to perfecting it.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un saw to it that the palace was splendidly remodeled into a children's palace without an equal in the world and a monumental edifice in the era of the Workers' Party to be proud of over the world.

Under the warm care of the peerlessly great men, the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace has successfully fulfilled its mission and duty as popular extracurricular education centre for schoolchildren and produced a number of reserve scientists, artistes and sportspersons who could shoulder the future of the country.

At least 8.2 million schoolchildren have cultivated their talents and desires through extracurricular activities at the palace.

Schoolchildren of the groups of the palace have won over 6,500 medals in international and domestic fine art and calligraphy contests and in national sports games.

Through over 340 rounds of performances on 20-odd occasions in at least 10 foreign countries and regions and in international contests like concours and children's fine art contests, they have fully displayed the advantages of the socialist educational system all over the world.

The palace has produced famous actors and actresses and sports aces and over 40 awardees of honorary titles and academic degrees like the titles of Labor Hero and People's Teacher and doctorate and hundreds of holders of the title of the October 8 Model Professor, new teaching method certificate and inventions certificate.

Over 2,700 art performances including New Year performances were given at the palace and members of its art groups have conducted more than 800 rounds of agitation activities for increased production.

The palace was awarded the Order of National Flag First Class and many teachers at the palace were honored with high official commendations.
