At the festival opened on April 23 was an exchange of valuable scientific and technological successes and experience gained by scientists, technicians and officials across the country who contributed to ensuring home production of raw and other materials and equipment, putting production process on a modern basis and perfecting the self-supporting economic structure true to the Party's intention.

Present at the closing ceremony were Kim Jae Ryong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, member of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, Pak Thae Song, vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences, officials concerned and working people.

The results of examination were announced at the ceremony.

The special place of the festival was taken by the Central Mining Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, the dressing plant No.3 of the Komdok Mining Complex, the Chollima Steel Complex, Ponghwa Chemical Factory and six other units and the first place by over 70 units.
