This water has 1.5 grams of mineral matters, 2.5 grams of free carbonic acid and 104.8 milligrams of metasilicic acid per liter. It also contains bicarbonate ion, sodium ion, calcium ion, magnesium ion, iron ion. And its temperature is 10 degrees Centigrade and its pH value is 6.2.

The mineral spring is located in the area 12 kilometers away southeast from the township of Tongchang County, North Phyongan Province, and there is a sanatorium near it.

President Kim Il Sung visited the mineral spring in October Juche 39 (1950), the period of the Fatherland Liberation War, and gave an instruction that mineral water should be used for medical treatment.

According to Pak Kwang Chol, head of the Taedong Spa Sanatorium, the sanatorium has registered successes in treating such various diseases as chronic digestive troubles by introducing scientific therapies for several decades.
