Present there were officials in the field of public health, those at ministries and national institutions and media, and members of the missions of international organizations including representatives of the United Nations Population Fund here and the WFP here.

At the event speakers said that the International Midwives Federation is conducting diverse activities to pay more public attention to midwives under the theme of "Midwife-guardian of women's right" this year.

They stressed the need to build up the ranks of midwives and take care of pregnant women and nursing mothers in a responsible manner so as to protect women's right.

Then there was a presentation of experience and a question-and-answer session for midwives.

The attendees enjoyed an art performance given by medical workers of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.
