Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- Citizens in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, have turned out in a campaign to spruce up their residential quarters.

They planted more than 300,000 potted flowers in greenbelts of the city, including the round-shaped greenbelt in Mansudae Street and surroundings of the Pothong Gate, and 160-odd flower stands.

And at least 100,000 trees like gingko tree were planted in the greenbelts with the spring tree-planting month as an occasion.

Efforts are also directed to tending tall pine trees and dwarf pine trees newly planted in central streets, training roadside trees and tall trees, whitewashing lower parts of trees, etc.

Meanwhile, citizens completed such works as replacing the old paving stones with new ones on roadsides, repairing curbstones, boundary stones and underpasses and painting bridge-handrails and houses and public buildings.
