Chun Doo Hwan, who is to blame for the massacre, is distorting the spirit of the Kwangju uprising and denying historical facts, speakers there charged.

They also accused the "Liberal Korea Party" of terming the uprisers "group of monsters."

Calling for properly probing into the truth behind the Kwangju massacre, they urged LKP to punish those who used abusive language against the uprising and its participants.

Then, the participants staged a candlelight procession in demand of the institution of a "law on punishment of those distorting the history of the May 18 popular uprising."
