Joint Statement Issued in Latin America
Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Organizations of Latin American countries made public a joint statement to mark the first anniversary of the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement.

The organizations are the Ecuadorian Committee for Remembering President Kim Il Sung, the Ecuadorian Committee for Remembering Generalissimo Kim Jong Il, the Ecuadorian Cultural Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Canar Provincial Institute for the Friendship and Solidarity with DPRK of Ecuador, the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Independent and Peaceful Reunification, the Guaranda Association for Friendship, Culture and Solidarity with the Korean People of Ecuador, the General Kim Jong Il Peruvian Amicable Institute, the Kim Jong Suk Library of Peru, the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship and the Colombia-Korea Friendship Association.

The joint statement referred to the historic significance of the Singapore DPRK-U.S. summit and talks and opposed all sorts of sanctions on the DPRK.

Expressing the belief that the joint statement adopted at the Singapore DPRK-U.S. Summit Talks would be thoroughly implemented, it appealed to all the peace-loving people of the world to actively support the Korean people in their struggle for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula and the building of a powerful socialist country.
