The statement said that the Panmunjom Declaration which reflected the unanimous desire of the whole Korean nation solemnly clarified that there opened a new peace era without war on the Korean peninsula.

It supported efforts of the Korean people to put an end to division and confrontation and open an era of national reconciliation and prosperity.

It went on:

The adoption of the declaration serves as a remarkable event showing the world the fact that the Korean nation is one and peace and prosperity can be achieved by the Korean nation itself.

An end should be put to the protracted division, outside interference and the imperialists' moves for a war.

We will join the world people in their struggle for establishing durable peace mechanism on the Korean peninsula.

We always extend firm solidarity to the struggle of the Korean people for the reunification of the country on the principle of national independence.

The Confederation of Lawyers of Asia and Pacific released an appeal supporting the just cause of the Korean people on May 3 to mark the first anniversaries of the Panmunjom Declaration and the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement.
