National Meeting Marks 80th Anniversary of Victorious Battles in Musan Area

Taehongdan, May 22 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the forecourt of the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Musan Area on Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victorious battles in the Musan area led by President Kim Il Sung. Present there were Choe Hwi, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jon Kwang Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ro Kwang Sop, director of the Party History Institute of the Central Committee of the WPK, Ri Sang Won, chairman of the Ryanggang Provincial Party Committee, Ri Song Guk, chairman of the Ryanggang Provincial People's Committee, officials of working people's organizations, and officials and working people in Ryanggang Province. It was also attended by Army General No Kwang Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, members of the armed forces organs and service personnel of the Korean People's Army. Choe Hwi made a report. He said that the battles in the Musan area led by the President were a historic event of great significance - a radical turn - in carrying out the Juche-oriented line of the Korean revolution and bringing about an upsurge in the Korean people's anti-Japanese national liberation movement centering on the armed struggle. The victory in the battles in the Musan area was the brilliant fruit of Kim Il Sung's steadfast idea and faith of independence and outstanding leadership, the reporter said. He pointed out that the battle of Pochonbo demonstrated that Korea was not dead but alive, and the battle of Musan area was a historic battle which actually showed that the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) was thriving and dealing telling blows to the Japanese imperialists after growing to be more powerful forces, no matter how desperately the enemy spread false information about destruction of KPRA. The reporter went on: The battles in the Musan area were a heavy blow to the Japanese imperialists hell-bent on continental aggression and thus rendered a direct help to the revolutionary struggle in neighboring countries and greatly inspired the national liberation movement of the world oppressed people against the imperialists' invasion and subjugation. The reporter stressed that only victory and glory are in store for the Korean people who are adding eternal luster to the revolutionary tradition of Paektu and carving out the destiny of their country and nation in an independent and creative way. |
