Rodong Sinmun Blames Japan for Cracking down on Chongryon

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the Japanese authorities gave a written answer in the name of the Cabinet to questions raised by a Diet member against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The keynote of the answer is that Chongryon may commit "violent acts of sabotage if the situation presents itself" as it is in "close contact with north Korea" and accordingly, they regard Chongryon as a rebel organization.

The Japanese reactionaries in the written answer labeled Chongryon as a target of investigation under the Act for the Prevention of Sabotage while bringing 14 kinds of false charges against Chongryon like "abduction" and "illegal export".

Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Sunday says all their moves show that the Japanese authorities remain unchanged in their hostile policy towards the DPRK and Chongryon despite the changed situation and peaceful climate on the Korean peninsula which draw the attention of the international community.

In recent days, they often talk about dialogue.

However, their deeds go against their words.

Still, Japan is a country which has the cross on its breast and the devil in its heart and commits wicked deeds against its words, and a despicable and impudent violent state and a real target to be checked for the prevention of sabotage.

Explicitly speaking, mean slander and crackdown upon Chongryon are just a hostile act and serious politically-motivated provocation against the DPRK.
