Kangwon Province, Model of Self-reliance
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- A vigorous drive has been conducted in different parts of the DPRK to open a new road of advance in socialist construction under the banner of self-reliance.

Taking the lead in this drive is Kangwon Province.

In recent years, the province newly established 60-odd bases of self-reliance at over 30 units including the Munchon Steel Works and the Wonsan Glass Bottle Factory to make a leap forward in the struggle for developing its local economy and improving the inhabitants' standard of living.

When the country was undergoing the hardest trials, officials and working people in the province laid a foundation for its economic development and put it on a higher stage. In those days, they came to keep deeper in their mind the philosophy that self-reliance is the only way out, worthwhile and honorable.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited various parts of the province several times, guiding its people to live and struggle like heroes with the mind to surely carry into reality Chairman Kim Jong Il's patriotic desire for building a powerful country.

Now, the people in the province are striving for the economic development and the improvement of people's livelihood, holding higher the banner of self reliance and self-sufficiency, to live up to the trust and expectation of the Supreme Leader who put forward the province as a model of self-reliance and a standard.

Six army-people power stations are being built at the same time in the province. It is the fiery zeal of its builders and inhabitants to completely settle the provincial energy problem by finishing the construction of those power stations ahead of schedule and building more new power stations in succession.

They also resolved to build a large-scale vegetable greenhouse farm by their own efforts.

The reality of Kangwon Province goes to prove that self-reliance is a powerful weapon which makes it possible to open up the shortcut to the fastest development in any trials and hardship.
