Long Spell of Drought Witnessed in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- A long spell of drought has persisted in south of the central west coast and some areas of the east coast of Korea.

According to data on precipitation in May, the average precipitation in Pyongyang City, Nampho City, and North and South Hwanghae, Kangwon and North Hamgyong provinces was 64.7-100.2 mm, 37-46.3 percent of the average annual precipitation.

So, the zone south of the central west coast and some areas of the east coast are suffering from water shortage now when rice-transplanting is at high peak.

Weather experts said that the areas south of the country's central part would witness little rainfall until June 20.
