On this occasion, the Korean people are recollecting with deep emotion the exploits of the Chairman who developed the WPK into a genuine mother party which is fully responsible for the destiny of the people and their life.

After setting it as the starting point of the Party activities to serve the people, he had made epoch-making changes in the revolution and construction by valuing the political integrity of the people and uniting the broad masses behind the WPK with deep trust for many years of his guidance over it.

He always paid careful attention to the trends of public opinion in setting a new line and policy and gained unfathomable strength from the people.

He put forward it as a vital issue of the Party to consolidate its close relations with the popular masses and lay a firm mass foundation of the Party and strengthened the single-minded unity of the leader, the Party and the masses with benevolent and all-embracing politics, thus turning the whole society into one harmonious family.

He had also led the Party officials to be true servants sharing weal and woe with the popular masses under the slogan "Let the whole Party go among the masses!"

There are many stories telling about his deep love for the people. When a hydro-power station was to be constructed, he saw to it that new houses were built for inhabitants in to-be-flooded area before anything else. When there raised an issue of poor working conditions, he convened an enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee to make the senior official of a province apologize to the workers.

Indeed, he developed the WPK into the party which regards it as the supreme principle in its activities to improve the standard of the people's living and serves the people.
