Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- Media in different countries and regions dedicated articles to the first anniversary of the adoption of the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement from June 8 to 17. AKP of Cambodia said that the adoption of the joint statement was an event which gave a hope of the settlement of peace on the Korean peninsula that had been a theatre of the most acute nuclear showdown in the world. The joint statement was a historic declaration as it said that the DPRK and the U.S., which had been most hostile to each other for a long time, would begin to write a history of new relations, AKP said. The Bangladeshi newspaper Daily Nauroz said that the joint statement made it possible for mankind to visualize the future of a peaceful world and served as an example for the countries hostile to each other how to manage the reconciliation and cooperation. The Syrian newspaper Al Baath pointed out that mankind hailed the first DPRK-U.S. summit meeting and talks and hoped for peaceful co-existence of the two countries based on dialogue and negotiations. It stressed that now the policy-makers of the U.S. have only two options as to whether to peacefully resolve the issue of the DPRK-U.S. relations or to let the second hand of the confrontation between the DPRK-U.S. run again. The Syrian Arab News Agency said that the one year since the DPRK-U.S. summit in Singapore showed who has truly wanted peace, adding that the U.S. persistent unilateral demand for the dismantlement of nukes would not work on the DPRK regarding the sovereignty as its life and that the U.S. has lost a golden chance due to its current method of political calculation. The website of the Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea introduced the practical steps taken by the DPRK for peace on the Korean peninsula last year, stressing that the U.S. should respond to the DPRK's active and sincere efforts in order to improve the DPRK-U.S. relations and that the ball is in the U.S. court. |
