Events Held Abroad
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- Events were held in different countries on the occasion of the "period of the international action for peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula" and the first anniversary of the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement.

A meeting, round-table talks and seminar were held in Venezuela, Romania and Japan, film shows in Syria, Guinea and Angola and internet photo show in Senegal from June 7 to 12.

A video dealing with the first DPRK-U.S. summit meeting and talks was shown at the film shows.

Speeches were made at the events.

The mayor of Naguanagua City in Carabobo State of Venezuela said that last year was the year when Supreme Leader of the Korean people Kim Jong Un demonstrated his high degree of political calibre and the guarantee of Korea's reunification and global peace was provided under his guidance.

The chairman of the Venezuelan National Society for the Study of the Juche Idea said that the joint statement was adopted at the first DPRK-U.S. summit meeting and talks, praising the adoption as a brilliant fruit of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un's outstanding diplomatic stratagem, bold decision and will to defend peace.

The chairman of the Socialist Party of Romania stressed that Korea, which was a theatre of big powers' fierce scramble for bringing it under their thumb, is now firmly defending its sovereignty and dignity as it has been led by the distinguished leaders possessed of iron pluck and boldness.

The chairman of the Romania-Korea Friendship Association demanded that the U.S. stop anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure and come out to implement the joint statement.

The chairman of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange and other personages from various circles expressed the will to smash the moves of the forces, which leave no stone unturned for blocking peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula at any cost, and to conduct brisk activities in support of the implementation of the joint statement.
