Utilization of Diverse Energy Resources Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- A work for using solar heat, wind power, biomass and other energy resources is brisk in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

At present, more than 100,000 kilowatts of generating capacity have been made on a nationwide scale.

Pyongyang City has propelled the work for establishing solar generating system in a far-sighted way. Many institutions, industrial establishments and households now use electricity produced from solar panels.

The North Phyongan Provincial Power Distribution Station and Unryul County of South Hwanghae Province built power stations which can produce electricity from wind power, solar heat and biomass.

North Hwanghae Province has concentrated its efforts on completing the technology for generating electricity with biomass, while various industrial establishments in South Phyongan Province have operated a generating system by coal gasification.

Rason City has strived to put the electric-power production on a normal basis by introducing a dispersion generating system based on solar heat and hydraulic resources.
