Indicating the goals and tasks for new year to be fulfilled by the Workers' Party of Korea, the state and people in his new year addresses every year, he provided important guidelines for effecting a turn in the economic work of the country.

In Juche 101(2012), the first year of the new century of Juche, he authored works like "On Some Tasks for Effecting a Turn in Economic Work", "We Must Put the Production and Construction on Scientific Footing by Applying the Idea of Attaching Importance to Science and Technology" and "On Eliminating the Inclination to Imports".

Enshrined in the works are the idea of improving economic work, settling the issue of people's living and providing them with an affluent and highly civilized life, true to the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

He also specified tasks for different sectors of the national economy and ways for carrying them out in the works like "Let Us Open Up a Road of Charge in the Building of an Economic Giant by Solving the Problem of Electricity", "Let Us Bring About Innovations in Agricultural Production under the Unfurled Banner of the Socialist Rural Theses", "Let Us Expedite the Construction of the Livestock Farming Base in the Sepho Area and Bring About a Fresh Turn in Developing Animal Husbandry" and "Let's Boost the Fishing Sector and Effect a New Turn in the Development of Fisheries".

He also published works like "The Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill Is an Enterprise Associated with the Great Leader's and the General's Life Devoted to Loving the People" and "Let Us Usher in a Great Golden Age of Construction by Thoroughly Applying the Party's Juche-oriented Idea on Architecture", illuminating the direction, tasks and ways of bringing about a surge and renovation in light industry and open up the heyday of construction.

At the third plenary meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in April, 2018, the Supreme Leader advanced the new strategic line for the entire party and the whole country to channel all-out efforts into the socialist economic construction and aroused all the people to the general revolutionary offensive and the grand advance for economic construction.

In his policy speech "On Socialist Construction and the Internal and External Policies of the Government of the Republic at the Present Stage" and in his report and concluding speech at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK, he specified self-reliance as the political line of our party.
