Ibrahim Mantu, member of the Credit Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria and chairman of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

It decided to give wide publicity through media to the feats of the President for the cause of global independence and his career and to hold political and cultural events including film show on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his demise.
