Making rounds of the work site of Pit No. 9 of the Coal Mine, Kim Jae Ryong stressed the need to positively introduce new technical innovation schemes and build up its repair and maintenance base as an integrated production system has been set up and IT-based production and management have been put on a high level.

At the Kumpho Mine he called upon its officials and workers to bear in mind an importance of the mine's duty in putting the metal industry on a Juche basis and put repair of equipment at stope and dressing plants on a regular basis and for relevant units to take thorough-going measures for production conditions including electric power.

The field consultative meetings discussed issues arising in taking measures for optimizing the economic work on the basis of scientific calculation and in realizing the integration of science and technology into production so as to give full play to the existing production capacity.

The premier also inspected the State Academy of Sciences, the Sunchon Coal-mining Machine Factory and learned about the preparations for building a major power station in Haeju Bay.
