Japanese Imperialists' Hideous Crime
|
|
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- The case of sunken transport ship "Taihei" in the sea off Kuril Islands early in July 1944 clearly shows the cruelty of the Japanese imperialists that had persistently sought to exterminate the Korean nation. In the first half of the 1940s, the Japanese imperialists schemed to build seven more airports in northern islets of the Kurils for turning them into a position of military importance. So, they took on board more than 1 000 Koreans, who were working at the military base in Hokkaido, together with 280-odd soldiers of the 91st Division of the Imperial Japanese Army and other reinforcements. And they supplied life jackets to their soldiers only, pushing those Koreans into the ship's bottom and locking up its entrance. The transport ship "Taihei" carrying them left for Paramushir Islet of the Kurils early in July 1944. When the ship was blown up on the morning of July 9, the Japs on board escaped from it without taking any measure to rescue the Koreans. After all, only 16 of those Koreans survived and were forced to work at military base construction site as slaves. As seen above, the Japanese imperialists committed hideous crimes against the Korean nation in the past, which can never be pardoned. |
