In this regard, Jo Son Ae, an official of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, told KCNA:

The sports groups organized at factories and enterprises play an important role in developing the sports technique and encouraging sports activities.

The number of sports groups amounts to tens of thousands throughout the country. Among them are Taekwon-Do, basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, tennis and swimming groups.

Many members of those sports groups have played a big role in the inter-provincial mass sports contest and the national sports contest of workers.
