Culture of O. Edulis Succeeded in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- The Hongwon Fishery Station in the DPRK succeeded in culture of O. edulis.

Millions of O. edulis are now bred at 10-odd fish farms in the east and west sea of Korea.

In this regard, Pak Chong Won, manager of the fishery station, told KCNA:

O. edulis is more tasty and nutritious than other kinds of oysters.

The fishery station confirmed all the technical data necessary for its culture in the seas of Korea, including artificial spawning and cultivation, feed kind at the larval stage and temperature appropriate to breeding of young oysters.

And, together with a research group of Wonsan University of Fisheries, it provided a sci-tech guarantee for protecting the seed oysters and larvae from bacteria and typhoon and cultivating them healthily.

The fishery station produces more than 500000 young O. edulis every year.
