The women's football games held from July 2 to 12 (local time) brought together teams from 12 countries including the DPRK, China, Russia, Brazil and Mexico and the regions.

The DPRK women's footballers trounced its Canadian and South African rivals in the group league matches, defeated its Italian rival 4:1 in the quarterfinals and a team from Ireland 5:0 in the semifinals.

In the finals held on July 12 (local time) the DPRK team defeated its Japanese rival 2:1.
