On the occasion of the significant day of the completion as well as July 27, the day of war victory, the Korean people and service personnel of the People's Army look back on the noble revolutionary comradeship and moral obligation of the Workers' Party of Korea which adds eternal luster to the heroic exploits of the defenders of the country who beat back the armed invasion of the imperialist allied forces under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung in the 1950's.

In order to glorify the life of the victors of the great years, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un initiated the construction of the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery and personally appointed the site for it and gave meticulous guidance to detailed elements ranging from designing to gatepost and wreath-laying stand.

Saying that the WPK is the owner of the graves of the well-known and unknown martyrs of the People's Army who have fallen in the Fatherland Liberation War, he gave energetic guidance to the construction. As a result, the cemetery was built as a monumental edifice of the era of the Workers' Party and one of precious mental and moral heritages to be handed down to posterity.

Kim Jong Un cut the inaugural tape at the ceremony of the completion of the cemetery held in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War, paid his respect to the heroic soldiers and appreciated their immortal exploits.

The remains of twenty heroes have additionally been buried in the cemetery since its completion.
