Minju Joson Criticizes Unveiling-Ceremony of Memorial Structure in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, there took place at the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek of south Korea an unveiling-ceremony of memorial structure symbolic of "south Korea-U.S. alliance". The structure consists of a sculpture representing U.S. soldiers and others in the days of Inchon landing operation during the Korean War and stone monuments briefing about main circumstances of the war and development of the "south Korea-U.S. alliance".

Commenting on this, Minju Joson Thursday terms it an outcome of the sinister purpose to distort the history, cover up the crimes and restore the outdated policy of confrontation.

It goes on:

Whoever is of the Korean blood should resent the history of crimes in which the Korean nation had suffered untold disaster and the country was bisected.

Moreover, now is the time for those responsible for the inglorious past of the Korean peninsula to make efforts for ushering in a new era of reconciliation, peace and prosperity.

The unveiling-ceremony that took place in south Korea just at this crucial moment can not be construed otherwise than a revelation of the intention to turn back the development of history by inciting a war against the north together with outsiders and reproducing the tragedy of war on this land.

But, it is a foolish dream. Nothing can chill the desire of the Korean nation to put an end to war on the Korean peninsula forever and open up a new era of peace and prosperity. History progresses and anything obsolete perishes.
