It was thanks to the outstanding military idea, strategy and tactics of President Kim Il Sung, an invincible and iron-willed commander, that the nearly two-year old DPRK could win victory in the war with the enemies which incomparably outnumbered it.

He made public such works as "Let Us Wipe Out the Invaders by a Decisive Counter-offensive" and "Some Tasks Confronting the People's Army in Winning the Final Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War" to provide the guidelines for victory in the war.

He also advanced the unique strategy and tactics and war methods, including the immediate counteroffensive action all along the front, consecutive attacks and annihilation through encirclement, formation of the second front by regular army units behind the enemy lines, active positional defense, tunnel warfare, aircraft-hunting team movement, tank-hunting team movement and sniper-team movement, to work military miracles unprecedented in the world history of wars.

Under his distinguished commandership, soldiers of the Korean People's Army successfully conducted the Taejon liberation operation, an example of modern-day siege warfare, and sank the enemy's heavy cruiser Baltimore with four torpedo-boats in the waters off Jumunjin. They also defended Wolmi Island for three days with four artillery pieces only from the attacking enemy with hundreds of warships and at least 1,000 warplanes, and shot down nearly 3,000 warplanes of the enemy with small arms in two years.

The aggressors mobilized millions of troops and tens of millions of tons of war supplies, including modern combat and technical equipment, in the war only to suffer a military, political and moral defeat.

In this regard, ex-President of Portugal Francisco Da Costa Gomes said: General Kim Il Sung single-handedly frustrated an operational plan worked out by tens of general officers from Western countries, chiefs of staffs and military experts, after several discussions. Witnessing the fact, I came to realize that he is the one and only gifted military strategist in the world and the great commander.

Stressing that the Korean people's victory in the war was thanks to General Kim Il Sung's outstanding leadership, a foreign military expert praised him as the peerless hero and the military strategist of the 20th century.
