People-oriented Policies Enforced during Fatherland Liberation War
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Thanks to the boundless warm love of President Kim Il Sung for the people, the future of the country to emerge victorious was designed and people-oriented policies, unprecedented in human history of war, were enforced in succession despite the grave situation of the war.

Cabinet decision No. 203 on enforcing free medical care system for the people was promulgated on November 13, Juche 41 (1952), and thereby the universal free medical care was carried into effect from January 1953.

People-oriented policies were enforced in succession, including the Cabinet decision on regular state aid adopted on August 19, 1950, the Cabinet decision on increasing the amount of food supply for families of workers, technicians and office workers on September 30, 1952 and the Cabinet decision on measures for improving economic situation of poor peasants and impoverished fishermen on February 18, 1953.

Kim Il Sung saw to it that the Cabinet decision on the establishment of schools for bereaved children was adopted on January 13, 1951 and the Cabinet decision on pensioning at state expense on August 30, 1951 as part of the efforts to take well care of the living of the bereaved families of patriotic martyrs and fallen soldiers.

In the flames of the war, the number of sanatoriums and rest centers was doubled as of 1951, as compared with the period before the war and even front-line rest homes were set up.

The President ensured that policies for guaranteeing the democratic freedom and rights and happy life of the people was also enforced in the liberated regions of south Korea.

A decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly on enforcing the agrarian reform in all the liberated areas of the southern half of Korea was promulgated on July 4, 1950.

Among the people-oriented policies were an order of the Military Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on supplying food grain to the poor in Seoul and liberated areas issued on August 2, 1950, the Cabinet decision on enforcing the labour law adopted on August 19 and the Law on Sex Equality.

All those people-oriented policies and a number of measures could be enforced during the life-and-death war, only thanks to the President, the great father of the people who had the dispositions of noble humanity and warm love for and trust in people.
