S. Korean Local Self-governing Bodies Urge Japan to Lift Export Restrictions
Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The "alliance of local governments for jointly countering Japan's export restrictions," composed of local self-governing bodies in 52 areas including Seoul and Taejon, released a joint statement on July 30 in Seoul, according to the south Korean newspaper Seoul Economic Daily.

The statement said restrictions on export to south Korea betrayed Japan's politically-motivated intention to retaliate against south Korea's economy.

Not only the "government" but also local self-governing bodies, civic organizations and people should make the same voice, the statement held.

Supporting the campaign like boycott against goods from Japan and prohibition of trip to Japan being staged across south Korea, the statement said local self-governing bodies would join the campaign.

The statement urged Japan to immediately lift the unjust export restrictions.
