Kangryong Mask Dance, National Intangible Cultural Heritage
Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- The Kangryong mask dance is one of the Korean nation's advantageous dance heritages.

It has been handed down generation after generation in Kangryong area of South Hwanghae Province.

Unlike the Pongsan mask dance performed by many persons, the Kangryong mask dance is done mainly by two masked persons.

This dance had been destined to become extinct due to the Japanese imperialists' policy of obliterating national culture before the liberation of Korea.

Thanks to the warm care of President Kim Il Sung, all the dance movements could be discovered after the country's liberation.

The Kangryong mask dance was staged at a national art festival in the postwar period. It is still now performed by inhabitants in Kangryong area.

The dance was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in Juche 105 (2016).
