The editorial notes that the slogan "Let us open a new road of advance for socialist construction under the uplifted banner of self-reliance!" reflects the firm will of the Workers' Party of Korea to bring earlier the rosier future of socialism on the basis of our own efforts and foundation and the Korean-style stratagem for struggle and mode of creation.

It goes on:

Self-reliance is the only way to survive and to be followed by us.

The last seven month-long struggle proved once again that the high dignity and genuine prosperity of the DPRK and the advance and development of Juche revolution lie in believing in our own efforts and paving the way by dint of self-reliance.

The reality shows that it is the best to live our own way whatever the situation and if we wage an indomitable struggle based on the firm belief in our own strength, we can surely attain the goals of struggle for this year.

The editorial calls for thoroughly carrying out the militant task set forth by the Supreme Leader in his New Year Address, so as to bring earlier the prosperity of our great state and the rosy future of our people.
