Ceramic Techniques of Korean Nation
Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation has created and developed their fine ceramic techniques from long ago.

In ancient times, they created various molding and baking methods to bring about an epoch-making development in ceramic production.

In the period of the Three Kingdoms (early 3rd century B.C.-middle 7th century A.D.), they invented glaze to make glazed pottery of various colors and, on this basis, established the techniques of making celadon and white porcelain.

The ceramic techniques were further developed in the periods of Palhae (698-926) and late Silla (late 7th century-early 10th century).

In particular, Koryo ceramics came into being in the first half of the 10th century. Koryo ceramics take a special place in the history of world ceramic workmanships for their variety, color, pattern and shape.

People in the Koryo period (918-1392) made a blue green celadon and invented a peculiar inlaid technique to develop the Koryo celadon into an inlaid blue green celadon.

People in the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910), too, further developed techniques of producing makeup ware and white porcelain.

The ceramic techniques with a long history show well the wisdom, intelligence and creative traits of the Korean nation.

Now, they are being inherited and developed under the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of protecting cultural heritages.
