This year, hundreds of hectares of new land have been secured through farmland reclamation and river improvement projects.

Several counties of North and South Hwanghae provinces turned farmland into standardized one and undertook projects for improving river conditions and thus secured many hectares of new arable land.

In particular, Jangphung County acquired more than one hundred hectares of new land in 25 days.

Kyonghung County of North Hamgyong Province built several kilometer-long embankments along the Kyonghung River and reclaimed the waste land to expand the area under cultivation.

Similar successes were also made in Kumgang County of Kangwon Province and other parts of the country.
