He underscored the need to develop the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and China onto a new high stage this year marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations by carrying through the important agreement made by the top leaders of the two parties of the DPRK and China.

He hoped that the Chinese people would register greater successes in socialist construction with the Chinese characteristics this year marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Xi Jinping as core.

Wang Yi said that the traditional China-DPRK friendship provided by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries is the common and precious mental asset which overcame the historic ordeals of over 70 years, hoping that the two countries would bring about a bright future of the China-DPRK friendship by successfully defending, consolidating and developing the China-DPRK friendly relations with the efforts of both sides.

He expressed the firm belief that the Korean people would successfully overcome any difficulties in their advance and certainly carry out the strategic line and goals set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea under the leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Un. He affirmed that China will always stand on the road as comrades and friends of the DPRK.

Attending there were officials of the International Department of the WPK Central Committee including Vice Department Director Han Man Hyok, the party of the Chinese foreign minister and Li Jinjun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.
