The Lao president in the message extended the friendliest and warmest congratulations to Kim Jong Un, and through him, to the Central Committee of the WPK and the fraternal government and people of the DPRK, on behalf of the LPRP Central Committee, the government and national assembly and people of Laos and for his part on the occasion of the 71st founding anniversary of the DPRK.

The message said:

I am very pleased that the Korean people have achieved general successes and development for the past 71 years in preserving the political stability of the country, steadily developing the economy, strengthening national defence capabilities and safeguarding the security and improving the people's livelihood under the experienced and determined guidance of President Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Il, the great leaders of the DPRK, and the WPK headed by you, the successor to their cause. I am also very glad about the ever-promoting status and role of the DPRK in the regional and international arenas.

I am firmly convinced that under the seasoned leadership of the WPK, the Korean people would steadily register successes in the cause of building a powerful socialist nation, the work for successfully implementing the decision made at the 7th WPK Congress and the drive for accomplishing the cause of peaceful reunification of the country.

I take pride in the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties, the two states and the peoples of the two countries, have favorably developed for the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the LPDR to provide the peoples of the two countries with substantial benefits and make tangible contributions to regional and global peace, friendship and development.
