The team has produced nine DPRK heroes and labor heroes, 110-odd people's and merited sportspersons and more than 530 masters of sports.

Its players bagged at least 520 gold medals at international games including Olympic Games and world championships.

Jong Song Ok breasted the tape in the women's marathon of the 7th World Track and Field Championships and Sin Kum Dan set new world records for 11 times in international women's track and field tournaments, while other players proved successful at world weightlifting and table-tennis championships.

The team also produced a number of Olympic gold medalists, including boxer Ku Yong Jo, wrestlers Kim Il and Ri Hak Son and weightlifters Pak Hyon Suk and Om Yun Chol.

Such successes were witnessed at the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, women's football event of the 17th Asian Games and the 2015 EAFF Women's East Asia Cup.

Its sportspersons won 50-odd gold medals at the Sports Contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize in 2017 and have proved successful in different domestic games every year, thus contributing to the country's sports development.
