Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Education-related leading officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) issued statements on Sept. 18 denouncing Japanese reactionaries for their unreasonable discrimination against Korean children in Japan. Sin Kil Ung, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Korean Teachers in Japan, said that the Japanese government in league with the judiciary, not content with excluding students of Korean schools, descendents of victims of the colonial policy by the Japanese imperialists, from the tuition-free program for senior high schools, is employing every possible crafty trick to exclude the young Korean children from the free infant education and upbringing system. He said that all the members of the union will arouse all the Koreans in Japan to the struggle for the settlement of the issue of the free infant education and upbringing system. Ri Ryong Ho, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Council of the Union of Korean Educational Association in Japan, said that Japan's attempt to exclude infant classes of the Korean schools from the free infant education and upbringing system which will be in place from the coming October is unpardonable national discrimination and heinous policy of stamping out national education. He went on: It is another criminal act that the Japanese government is so base as to target infants as an object of exclusion and discrimination. All the officials of Chongryon and parents of Korean students will resolutely fight with the concerted efforts till they win victory in the struggle for preserving national education. |
