The university has introduced this new method into the Kaeson Kindergarten in Moranbong District and Kwangbok Primary School in Mangyongdae District as a trial.

In the course of learning the calculation by abacus, kindergarteners and pupils grasped easily the conception of several-figure number and improved their ability to do mental arithmetic. After all, they could immediately and correctly count the complicated figures without abacus.

They even calculated the complicated four rules of arithmetic in four and five figures while singing, dancing and exercising.

The method is now being widely introduced into the general educational sector of the country, an official concerned said, adding that brain function formed through the abacus education at an early age serves as a precious basis in developing a long memory and a quick-reading ability.
