The art troupe, personally named by President Kim Il Sung and founded by Chairman Kim Jong Il on September 27, Juche 58 (1969), has been famous as the first model art troupe born under the guidance of the peerlessly great men.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has led the creators and artistes of the art troupe prioritized and developed by the great leaders to carry forward the revolutionary and enterprising working manner of their predecessors.

It has created popular masterpieces and dances and gave performances at home and abroad, clearly showing the development of Juche-oriented musical art.

Kim Jong Il provided distinguished leadership to the art troupe for the representation of songs praising Kim Il Sung. As a result, songs praising the leader could reverberate far and wide as the famous songs worth national treasure.

Under the meticulous guidance of Kim Jong Il, the art troupe successfully adapted immortal classic masterpieces and the songs dating back to the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to revolutionary operas, chorus and female instrumental ensemble and the like to carve out a new ground in the development of the Juche arts.

In each stage of the developing revolution, it gave performances of high ideological and artistic value reflecting the desire and wishes of the Korean people and added to enthusiasm of the public for revolution by giving art squad's performances and frontline-style performances of various forms.

During those days, many creators and artistes of the art troupe were awarded Order of Kim Il Sung, Kim Il Sung Prize, People's Artist and many other titles and state commendations.
