Chairman Kim Jong Il organized the art troupe on Sept. 27, Juche 58 (1969) to usher in the heyday for the development of Juche-oriented music.

The 50 year-old history of the art troupe was the proud course during which it has developed into a model art institution under the wise leadership of the peerlessly great men.

Kim Jong Il visited the scene of creation even at midnight and dawn to make a new history in composing songs of praising the leader. He energetically led the art troupe to take the lead in defending, carrying forward and developing the tradition of the anti-Japanese revolutionary literature and art, showing great loving care for and putting trust in its creators and artistes.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un praised the art troupe as a famous one organized and developed into a model of Juche-based art by Kim Jong Il, and led it to advance under the banner of the Mansudae spirit.

Under the leadership of the Party, the art troupe was honored with Order of Kim Il Sung and has produced a number of recipients of the Party and state commendations, honorary title holders and winners of the February 16 Art Prize and international concours.
