On behalf of the Communist Party, government and people of China, I extend warm greetings to you and, through you, to the Workers' Party of Korea and the government and people of the DPRK on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the PRC and the DPRK.

The establishment of official diplomatic relations between the two countries seventy years ago was of epochal and important significance in the history of the relations between the two parties and the two countries.

The DPRK was among the first countries that established diplomatic relations with new China.

Over the past seventy years, the traditional China-DPRK friendship has steadily developed, overcoming the trials of the complicated and knotty international situation and ever-changing times, thanks to the care of the successive leaders of the two parties and the two countries and by efforts exerted by both sides, and further consolidated with each passing day to take a deep hold upon popular mind.

The two countries have dynamically propelled the prosperity and advance of their socialist cause by achieving rich successes in exchange and cooperation in various fields and also played an important and positive role in defending regional peace and stability.

The traditional China-DPRK friendship is a valuable asset common to the two parties, two countries and two peoples.

It is the consistent and firm policy of the party and the government of China to reliably defend and successfully consolidate and develop the China-DPRK relations.

I am giving high priority to the development of China-DPRK relations and value mutual trust and friendship with you Comrade Chairman.

Since last year, I met you Comrade Chairman five times and we reached joint understanding of a series of important matters and jointly led the China-DPRK relations to enter a new historical period.

The Chinese side is ready to bring more well-being to the two countries and their peoples by propelling a lasting, sound and stable development of China-DPRK relations through joint efforts with the DPRK side with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a momentum.
